Rare early 20th century miniature terrestrial globe with inclined mount on original turned wooden base and upright that has an ebonised finish. The axes of the globe is secured at the top by a brass finial.
A cartouche is present that includes the title, plus the maker's name and address. 'Die Erde'- The Earth. 'Graviert nach den neuesten Erkenntnissen' - Engraved following the latest discoveries. Carl Abel Klinger, Nuremberg.
This globe consists of twelve coated lithographic paper segments covering a 6cm cardboard sphere, printed using multiple colours. Its age is discerned through the German-labelled geographical areas and illustrated political boundaries.
Boasting intricate detailing and adorned with a grid of parallels and meridians, it offers a comprehensive depiction of continents and countries as they existed at the time of its printing.
Dimensions: 6 cm/2⅜ inches (Globe diameter) x 2.5cm/ 5 inches (Max. height on stand).
